The Quay

The city of Westport’s Quay is a small adjoining port that was once busy with activity but is no longer used for commercial shipping.  The Quay is now a suburb notable for its many warehouse conversions, restaurants and pubs, and bustling nightlife.  It is also where students and young Westport residents come to hang out, kick back, or picnic on the grass with their friends and guitars.

The Quay also includes the famous “point” pitch, which is the training ground for the local Gaelic football team Westport United.  It is also home to a small museum that celebrates the history of Westport and maritime history of Clew Bay and the Clew Bay Heritage Center.  The center is open year-round from 10:00am to 2:00pm daily and free to the public.  For more information, contact +353 (0) 98 26852.
