A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ancient Pompeii is located near the modern Naples in Campania Region. The city was destroyed in AD 79 due to the volcanic eruption in the Mount Vesuvius and was buried completely under 60 feet of Pumice and ash which was rediscovered accidently in 1748. It receives around 2,571,725 visitors in 2007 and is most visited tourist place in Italy.
