The church of Santa Maria Assunta with its tiled dome is one of Positano’s most important structures. Positano boasts of some stunning beaches along its rugged coastline. Fornillo is a small beach with no ferry traffic; a small distance away, it is also less crowded. Spiaggia Grande is the town’s commercial beach buzzing with tourists; ferries to and from nearby islands also ply from this beach.
While in Positano, make a trip to the village of Nocelle, at the top of the mountain, for the best views of the neighbouring areas. The island of Capri can be reached by the ferry; it is especially famous for its Blue Grottos. The thermal spas of the island of Ischia and the Greek ruins of Paestum, too, are just a ferry ride away. These islands make for ideal summer getaways.
The Positano Art Festival is the town’s most important festival. It includes a food and wine festival, canoe races and concerts.
