Tourist Guide Procida
Procida is an island in the Campania region among other Phlegrean islands. It is located adjacent to the coastal plains of Naples City in Italy. Procida lies between the Cape of Miseno and the Island of Ischia, along with its tiny satellite Island of Vivara. During the roman supremacy, Procida became a famous resort for the patrician class of Rome. A person from Procida is known as Procidani. The name Procida is derived from prima Cyme, meaning ‘near Cuma’. It has an area of 41 k square and a population of 10,694.
Procida is the volcanic eruption of four active mountains which now rest as dormant and submerged. The highest point of the Procida Island is the Terra Murata hill standing at an altitude of 91m. Procida is famous for its cultural values and is the island of many novelists. Procida is a home for many historical centres of Italy. There are many religious traditions on the island tied to the period of holy week before Good Friday.
