Cefalu, a historic coastal town located in the province of Palermo, is situated in Sicily, Italy. With a population of around 14,000 inhabitants, the town is a major historic and cultural centre.
The town of Cefalu enjoys a temperate climate, characterised by mild temperatures. Occasionally, the town experiences high humidity and heat due to the Scirocco winds. Spring and autumn are the best time to visit.
Derived from the Greek word Kephaloidion, the town witnessed major development under the Norman king, Roger II. Cefalu was also governed by the Arab and Greek empires.
The local economy is based on agriculture, craftsmanship, fishing and alimentary industries. Today, tourism is an important source of income.
