The Palace is a Schifanoia construction of Ferrara, dating back to 1385, and now houses a museum. It was built on commission from Alberto d'Este and then transformed and expanded mainly in the age of Borso d'Este. The name underlines its character of divertissement (literally means "to dodge boredom").
