Trieste is located on the Adriatic Sea, to the north coast in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The city has a long maritime past too and has been an international post since its foundation in 1719. Trieste port offers many ferry routes that are operated by Anek Lines and Ustica Lines. Ustica Lines occasionally offers a ferry crossing between Pula and Trieste in Croatia. The route, however, is not frequently provided and so the schedules can change throughout the seasons. Anek Lines is a Greek ferry company which offers ferry sailing between Igoumenitsa and Trieste and depending on the seasons, the vessels depart.
