The city of Rome counts only 2 airports (the both are international airports). The most important one is the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport : it's the largest of the whole Italy, with a traffic of more than 30,000,000 passengers in the 2007.

It's placed in Fiumicino, about 30 km. far from the Rome's city centre. It's constituted by 3 terminals : the 1st is intended to internal flights, and the 2nd and 3rd for the international and intercontinental routes.

The International Leonardo da Vinci Airport is very easy to reach : it's well served by rail (through the A91 Rome - Fiumicino highway), and it's also well connected by a rail system (the Leonardo Express Line is a train that leaves from Rome Termini Central Station every 30 minutes).

The Giovan Battista Pastine Airport is instead the second airport of Rome; it's based in Ciampino, a little town just 15 km far from the Rome city centre.

The Rome Ciampino Airport opened in 1916 and was originally born as a military airport. Since the development of the low cost companies and the no-frills flights, the airport has been increasing its importance year after years : today over 2 millions passenger pass through Ciampino, and the most important low cost companies, as well as Ryanair, Easyjet, ect, have based here their hub.

To reach the Rome Ciampino Airport is a little bit pestering: the bus is probably the best mean, surely the cheapest one. There are bus that leave from the Anagnina metro station and the Rome Termini Central Station.
