The Basilica di San Clemente is an early Christian basilica which is situated in Rome and is dedicated to Pope St. Clement. The church is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and is a three tiered complex of buildings on the site. The interior of the Church is very beautiful and is notable for three historical layers. This 12th century basilica is built on top of a well preserved 4th century church which was built next to a 3rd century Mithraic Temple.
