The Imperial Forums are a series of public squares and buildings in Rome.
Built between 46 BC and 113 AD and initiated by Julius Caesar, the construction of the Imperial Forums was an answer to the existing buildings of Roman Forum as the squares of Imperial Forums were more impressive and bolder as well. For a long period, they were the centre of the economic and cultural life.
Visitors get to see the various forums adorning the area like the Forum of Caesar, Forum of Augustus, Forum of Nerva and Forum of Trajan.
Consisting of a Temple of Venus and a statue of Caesar riding a horse, the Forum of Caesar was the first Imperial Forum to be built.
Situated perpendicular to the Forum of Caesar, the Forum of Augustus had a temple dedicated to Mars.
The
Forum of Trajan is the largest and greatest of all forums.
