Galleria Borghese or Borghese Gallery is a "must-visit" art gallery in the city of Rome. The art gallery cum museum is housed in the historical Villa Borghese Pinciana.
The museum holds an amazing collection of antiquities, sculptures and paintings which were first collected by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in the 17th century.
Tourists can see a spectacular collection of famous artists like Canova, Antonello da Messina, Bernini, Titian, Rubens and Raphael in this museum. This is not as huge as other famous museums in Rome.
There are 20 rooms spread across 2 floors. One can easily cover all the rooms and exhibitions within a few hours. On the main floor, visitors can see some of the famous creations like mosaic of gladiators and Venus Vixtrix.
The National Museum of Musical Instruments is also housed in this gallery. Various musical instruments, collected from Oceania, Africa, America, Rome, Greece and Egypt, are kept in this museum.
The gallery is located at Piazzale Scipione Borghese 5 in Rome. It remains open daily from 9am-7pm, except Monday.
