One of the largest art-history collection in the world.

The Vatican Museums are a group of museums dedicated to different arts, sculptures and fields. The museums are located in the city-state of the Vatican City in Rome.

The museums are situated on the right hand side of St. Peter's. Vatican Museums display a spectacular collection of artistic work from the Roman Catholic Church.

The museums were established in the 16th century by Pop Julius II. He collected some sculptures and kept them in, today what is called as "Cortile Ottagono" in the museum. Later, several other artworks were collected and new sections were built.

The museums are divided into several sections like Gregorian Egyptian, Gregorian Etruscan, Classical Roman and Greek antiquities, Tapestries, Ceramics, Modern religious arts and historical museum. Each of the section is further divided into several rooms.

Tourists can see a huge collection of the ancient artifacts in every room. The tour to the museums also includes a visit to the palaces in Vatican City. The museum remains open from 8.45am-4.45pm in April to October and from 8.45am-1.45 pm in November to March.
