Reviews Political Rome
From ancient history to modern times in Rome you'll get a cross section of just how the long legacy of Roman history is unfolding everyday life,a Political sight you may start with is Piazza del Campidoglio (Campidoglio Saquare) the square is the symbolic heart of the city. The rebuilding of the site was designed by Michelangelo commissioned by Pope Paul III, pressed to receive the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in 1536.
The entire work, really remarkable, was completed only a century later. Marcus Aurelius statue has been recently removed from the square for preservation and renovation works, but everything else remains as designed by the Master. Buses 44, 46, 56, 60, 64, 65, 70, 75 will get you there....and you'll be just off Venezia Square, you'll see the fascinating view of the Altare Della Patria (called in an affectionate way the wedding cake...or the typewriter from Romans!)inside there's the Vittoriano Museums with gorgeous exhibitions to check out also.At the entrance of the Museum you'll be facing the Roman Forums,a testimony of past times ancient Political heart of Rome,(in the summertime there are also open air theatre shows there in the Forums taken as a natural set for the scenes).
From Piazza Venezia you can take one of the many buses that will take you up to Via Nazionale towards Termini and Repubblica Square, just off Via Nazionale (halfway up)you can get to the Quirinale,at the heart of politics, and also at the Scuderie del Quirinale,a gorgeous Museum worth while checking out!
