Via Appia Antica is also known by the name the Appian Way and is known as one of the oldest roads in Rome, dating back to 312 BC.
This stretch is presently a part of the natural and archaeological park, the Parco Regionale dell’Appia Antica. One can visit this place on Sundays, as traffic is closed during this day.
There are many places to see whilst walking through this stretch, which are the Church of Domine Quo Vadis, the Church of San Sebastiano, the Tomb of Cecilia Metella and many other sights.
