The naval museum is one of the most important maritime museums in Italy. It has fourteen sections dedicated to every aspect of maritime life from map making to the shipyard. The museum boasts of the largest historical technical maritime library in Italy with more than 115000 volumes at the disposal of students, scholars and enthusiasts. The museum is about to be relocated soon to a much larger premise. It remains open on Wednesday and Saturday and only groups are allowed to visit with due permission.
