Ventimiglia is a town in northern Italy, in the province of Imperia, with an important flower market. It is located 130 km southwest of Genoa. On the Gulf of Genoa, Ventimiglia has a small harbor at the mouth of the Roia River. As per the census the population of Ventimiglia is 25,450. It is the ancient album Intemelium, the capital of Intemelii. In 1969 the city was sacked by the army of Otho and Vitellius but recovered to remain prosperous in to the fifth century. Ventimiglia lies on 9m elevation and has an area of 54.01km square. The town hall in Ventimiglia had three flags flying the Italian national flag, the EU flag, and a vertical tricolor of green-red- blue. The Town Hall and the palm-shaded Giardino Pubblico; is the picturesque walled old town. On the hill west of the river, is a Romanesque cathedral with an adjoining Baptistery and an 11th century Church of San Michele. From the Piazzale Del Capo, a little way south of the cathedral, there are magnificent views, extending westwards as far as Cap Ferrat.
