Teatro Sociale has been the most important theater of Lecco. The theater is located in the city centre. It was built in the year 1853 by architect Giuseppe Bovara. It mesmerizes its visitors with beauty of stucco interior in a neo classical style which was made by Giacomo Mattarelli, a master in craving. The theatre has hosted various big events of some of the most popular names and organizes operas and other events on special occasions such as Christmas, Good Friday etc. while providing seating facility to thousands of viewers at a time. Along with this the theatre offers a season full of reviews: drama symphony, opera and operetta, jazz and folk music, music and theatre of Lombardy, theatre workshops and experimental theatre. The theatre today, is a result of restoration, renovation and expansion.
