The Duomo is the world’s fourth largest church in Lombardy, Milan.

The Duomo came into being in the late fourteenth century with the construction being initiated by the archbishop, Antonio da Saluzzo. Today, it is among the worlds largest churches and also the second largest Gothic cathedral in the world.

Well-known for its importance in the circulation of Christianity, the cathedral also represents the exceptional musical heritage and the brilliance of Gothic architecture.

Visitors can marvel at the spacious interiors which come alive by the radiant windows and splendid columns.

The main highlights of the place include the magnificent marble altars, bronze statues and the most renowned work of art, the St. Bartholomew statue by Marco D’Agrate.

The cathedral also contains ivories, gold and silver vases and tapestries.
