Milan is the industrial capital of Italy and the famous art and beauty of Italy is harder to find. Where to start in a day? A visit to the Duomo, the Milan cathedral is a must.

Take your time to visit the gothic church inside and admire the colums and decorations all stretching to the sky. You can also walk to the top of the building, admire the pinnacles and have a view of Milan.

For lunch, just next to the Cathedral is Luini where you can taste the famous panzerotto (a sort of fried calzone). It's a place were Milaneses gather for lunch. For some after lunch shopping, head to the famous via Montenapoleone and via della Spiga where, if you can't afford to shop, at least you can admire the windows.

Then take via Manzoni, turn left and head to the Scala, under the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and visit the newly open Museo del Novecento, a museum showcasing moder italian art.
