Once a small fishing hamlet, the small town of Stresa in the province of Novara with its population of 5000 inhabitants has gained prominence as a tourist hotspot. It is situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region of Italy. It has been a retreat for the peer of the realm in the past who have built beautiful villas in this town.
The breathtaking view of the lake provides a glimpse of the three islands, Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola de Pescatori. The lakeside is lined up by a magnificent view of the palm trees and flowerbeds nestling the hotels and the villas in its folds.
Tourism in the Stresa has been the economic mainstay of its inhabitants and has been fostered since the tunneling of the Simplon Pass which has allowed the rail routes to be connected to it and the pleasant climate. There is a wealth of attractions like lake views, parks, botanical gardens and churches in Stresa.
