Porto Cervo is visited mainly for the fun, sun and the beach. The coast, marked by sandy beaches and several rocky inlets, is ideal for swimming and sailing. Further into the island, the terrain is mountainous and lush, great for hiking and climbing.
One of the most distinguished landmarks of the town is Capo Ferro, a towering piece of rocky terrain jutting out into the sea. It is mounted by a lighthouse, which is the first indication of the town when arriving by sea. The town is dotted with piazzas, flanked by designer boutiques, cafes and restaurants. The buildings have been beautifully planned to provide Old World charm.
The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is one of the major contributors to the town’s success as it attracts a lot of visitors for sport and leisure. The annual Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, held in September, attracts sailboats from all over the world for week-long competitions and events.
