The 2000 year old Tiberius’ bridge, which was built to connect the city to the important trade routes in the region, still stands. Though, the cathedral, Tempio Malatestiano, was never completed, it is here that the tombs of the Malatesta ruler and his wife are housed. The Castel Sismondo was built to fortify the town and later, even served as a prison. The main square of the old town, Piazza Cavour, is characterised by many grand medieval structures.

The town is mostly frequented by visitors for the sunny beaches and the warm waters which are ideal for swimming. Also, Rimini has the most vibrant nightlife on this coast; it is also referred to as ‘the Ibiza of the Adriatic’.

Ravenna, in the vicinity, is a small charming town with an Old World atmosphere. The two major sights of interest here are Dante’s Tomb and the Basilica of Sant' Appollinare Nuovo known for the beautiful mosaic.
