Dorgali also houses the Grotta di Ispinigoli, the tallest stalactite in Europe. Standing at a height of 38 meters, this magnificent structure in the Ispinigoli Cave is a major draw for the tourists. The walls of the cave are a magnificent mix of concrete and limestone cascades.
The name literally translated into English means “thorn in the throat”. The discovery of ancient bones primarily of young girls of the same age and a natural altar has led to the conclusions by experts of it being a place for performing sacrifices.
