Alto Adige Archaeological Museum : in this museum objects from the Palaeolithic era to the Carolingian era are exhibited over four floors and holograms, models, acoustic guides and video are used to have a good effect.
The highlight of this place is the frozen body of a peasant that is 5300 years old and which was found in 1991 on the glaciers of Val Senales. As this body has the clothing and equipment attached with it, it offers a true glance into the life in this period.
The construction of the Cathedral was started in 1290 and finished in the early part of the 15th century. The campanile has a height of 65 meters and it towers over the city.
The front portion is created from yellow and red marble decorated with balusters and gargoyles. The frescoes of ‘Madonna and child’ and ‘Stories of St. Christoper’ are very well known. In 1514 a stone pulpit in the Gothic style was built.
In the 13th century Verona artists created a statue of Madonna breast-feeding.
Civic Museum : this museum houses several fine works of art that belong from the middle ages to the current era.
Gothic altars, carved crucifixes and Madonnas are some of the treasures. A wooden statue of an infant Jesus was restored in the recent past. Here one can also view rooms that have wooden furnishings in genuine Alpine Germanic tradition.
