Castelfiorentino is the smallest administrative district and a municipality situated in the Province of Florence that is situated in the Italian region of Tuscany in Europe. The district is located about 30 km in the south west direction of Florence. When measured in the year 2004 the town recorded to have a population of just above 17,500 indicating that it is a scarcely populated district in the Florence Province. The municipality contains various subsections, primarily villages and small hamlets like Dogana, Castelnuovo and Petrazzi. The town is also bordered by the Certaldo, Gambassi Terme and San Miniato municipalities. The total area is round about 66 square kilometers most of which is land, which is very rich in mineral resources like iron ore, mercury, copper and lignite. In spite of mining, agriculture still leads to the region's major economy producing occupation. The industrial sector is prevailed by mining, textiles, chemicals and pharmaceutics, metalwork, glass and ceramics, clothing, publishing and printing sectors. The city is very well known for its natural and architectural beauty because of which there is an uninterrupted stream of visitors all over the year. The climate remains pleasant throughout the year.
