The island is well known from ancient times for its iron resources and its valued mines. The Greeks called this island Aethalia, which is fume after the fumes of the furnaces for the metal production. The Capo Bianco Beach is close to the main square. This beach is completely white and rocky and one can discover a wonderful sea green and blue with its crystal waters. There are also some of the best monuments, old houses with flourished balconies which are eye catching and beautiful.
There is a mild climate and a diverse of landscapes and scenery. There are also romantic fishing villages, small towns on rocky hill tops and such ancient castles. One can also get to see green valleys and enchanting bays which is combined with sandy beaches. There is also the Monte Capanne which rises to 1019 meters of altitude.
