Livorno: Attractions and more...
There are some neo-classical buildings, cultural institutions and public parks housing unique museums which are worth visiting. One can also visit the Liberty villas which has a market and sea views. There is also the Museo Mascagnano which houses memorabilia, operas and documents by the great composer Pietro Mascagni. Each year the operas are played traditionally during the season of the lyric music and this is organized by the Traditional Theatre of Livorno. There is also the Terrazza Mascagni which is a walkway divided from the sea by a handrail named in honor to Pietro Mascagni.
There is the old fortress which is an old building made of red bricks when Medici defended the city from the pirates attack.
