The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an inclined, freestanding bell tower in Italy, Pisa.
The first stone of the tower was laid in 1173 and the construction of one of the unusual monuments of all times, started. It was intended to stand vertically but began to lean soon after construction owing to a poorly laid foundation. The tower is a work of art made up of eight floors of limestone.
Along with its neighbouring cathedral, cemetery and baptistery, the tower was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Built in the Romanesque style, the tower has six open galleries and the top of the tower can be reached by mounting the 294 spiral steps. The view from these galleries and especially, the top of the tower is spectacular to say the least.
