Reviews Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale
Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale
The Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Reale is located in Pisa, Italy. It is housed in a 16th century palace designed by Buontalenti. The museum was originally built for keeping the artifacts of the court and customs of Pisa.
The museum contains seventeenth to nineteenth century furniture and furnishings as well as several testaments of the families that resided in the palace. The museum features paintings, furnishings, portraits, tapestries, and armors. The tapestries of Flemish and Florentine belonging to the Medici Guardaroba are particularly fascinating and so is the old armor of the Gioco del Ponte that date back to the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries.
The precious predella compartment from the polyptych of San Nicola da Tolentino painted in 1500 by the young Raphael is also a must see.
