Saint Catherine's House is her place of birth which was canonized in 1461. Labeled as the mystic of politics, Saint Catherine fought corruption in the church. Her house of birth was bought by the Siena council in 1466 and was transformed into a real sanctuary. All her precious works and records are kept here. The portico on entering the historic building was built in 1941 and the well is original, believed to be built in 1400s.
