Tourist Guide Gubbio
Gubbio can be described as a commune as well as town located in remote north-eastern portion of ‘Italian Province of Perugia (Umbria)’.
Gubbio lies along the 1st slope of ‘Mt. Ingino’, i.e. a petite mountain relating to Apennines.
Gubbio ia popular amongst paleobiologists and geologists as discovery place concerned with ‘so-called’ Gubbio layer; i.e. one of the exposed ‘sedimentary layer’ exposed through ‘roadcut’ on the outer side of town. Such a dark, thin band of ‘sediment’ goes on to mark border between Tertiary and Cretaceous geological periods which can be dated back to around 65 million years. Moreover, it was formed out of ‘infalling debris’ with respect to gigantic meteor impact which was responsible for extinction on the part of dinosaurs; along with their contemporaries.
In the year 1860, Gubbio got incorporated in to Kingdom of Italy; with rest of Papal States.
