Covering an expanse near the sea shore, the Lido di Venezia or also termed simply Lido is a narrow, thin and long island located at a distance on 11Km from Venice Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. The ports of San Nicolò and Malamocco are adjacent to the seaward town. The only mode of transportation to the mainland is ferries which are available at a regular interval from the place.
The town has proper roads and a tourist airport which is rare amongst the islands located in the lagoon. The island of Pellestrina is a municipality which neighbors the Lido is the town’s main municipality. The Venice Lido is peaceful, quite and green place which can be reached in 10 minutes from the St. Mark’s Square. As the place is very less crowded hence providers a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time. In 2008 the population of the place was 17,481.
The place has Mediterranean type of climate where the winters are cold and wet while the summers are hot and dry.
