Mestre often comes forth as a site of considerable historic interest, yet only a few structures have sustained the modernisation and urban development like the Duomo di San Lorenzo (St. Lorenzo Dome). This infrastructure stands on the wide pedestrian area occupying the Ferretto Square and acts almost as an unique symbol for the city.
