The old yet prestigious Ferretto Square was initially developed as a terminus for the tramway before it was bestowed with trade activities. The large, long and attractive site has numerous structures like the Toniolo Theatre as well as the Seventeenth century St. Lorenzo Dome and the Palazzo da Re. The extraordinary ormolu work on the fountain was done by Mertre’s very own Alberto Viviani (1906-1989) who was considered one of the greatest sculptors of last century.
