Lido di Venezia
The Lido is a small and picturesque island in the Venetian lagoon that stretches for about 12 km in front of Venice. The coast is bordered by the ports of San Nicolò and Malamocco two "mouths" through which the lagoon comes into contact with the sea; it can be reached only by ferry-boat.
The beach of the Lido owes its fame to the natural dunes of fine and golden sand, as well as clean and firm water. The area is very famous for its modern buildings and the Palazzo del Cinema, headquarters of numerous cultural events hosted by the city and the world including the most important: Venice Film Festival.
Lido is a neighborhood of Venice and is 11 kilometer of sandbar and home to almost 20,000 residents with Italian tourists in summer. The Venice Film Festival takes place in Lido every September. This beautiful island is home to 3 settlements, Lido, Malamocco, and Alberoni. The heart of the Island is the Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabeth which is a wide street of 700 mile long and leads from the lagoon on one side to the sea on the other end.
