Vicchio is a municipality that is situated in the Province of Florence in the famous region of Tuscany in Italy. The town is located about 25 km in the north east direction of Florence at an elevation of 203 meters above sea level. Vicchio is bordered by the municipalities Borgo San Lorenzo, Marradi and Pontassieve. It is very well known for its rich culture and heritage. When recorded in the year 2004 the population of the commune was found to be around 7,736. The total area of the commune is 139 square kilometers all covered by land. Two famous well known painters Giotto and Angelico were born here. The town basically has a Mediterranean climate and sometimes experiences a humid and wet subtropical climate. Because of the surrounding hills and river valley the climate remains cool in major parts of the year. The highest formally registered temperature was 42°C around 25 years back. However the average temperature is around 22 degrees. Lorentine is the language spoken here by the habitants of Vicchio. Tourism is considered to be the most substantial industry here that too between the months of April and October.
