The city is considered to have a population of 11,360 when recorded in the year 2004 indicating that it is scarcely populated region. The total area of the city is only 95 square miles thus it is a small town in terms of area too. The major exports here include chemicals, petrochemicals, home appliances, defense technologies and food processing. The climate here is reasonably mild near the coastal areas and more abrasive in the inland. The town experiences significant fluctuations and variations in the temperature during winter and summer.
