The History Museum of Latvia is the national museum of Latvia. It lies in Riga city at the Pils Laukums 3, which is an area in old town. The History Museum of Latvia aims towards collecting, researching and preserving the culture of Latvia.
The museum holds a spectacular collection of the artifacts ranging from ancient times till the present date. These artifacts and the details together display the golden journey of Latvia and the city of Riga.
These objects d'art belong to various fields such as art, history, ethnography and archaeology. Exclusive departments are dedicated to these fields. The structure of the museum building is itself a masterpiece.
It was founded in the year 1869. Visitors can see some historical exhibits at permanently placed expositions. Besides this, one can also see items created using sacral art.
The furniture and set up of the first school in Latvia feature in the museum. The museum remains open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am-5pm.
