The most interesting monuments and sculptures of Klaipeda can be found in the narrow streets of Old Town. The picturesque Central Market Square and the Theatre Square highlighted by a beautifully sculpted fountain are both found here. The red brick structure of the Old Post is one of the most striking buildings, with its beautiful frescoes, and a bell tower, with the largest carillon in the country.
The Clock Museum is one of the best museums in the city. It showcases the development of timepieces in the region; its array of artefacts includes ancient calendars, unique clocks and even the most modern atomic clocks. The Blacksmith’s Museum is a museum and also a workshop; metal articles discovered during excavations are displayed here;
Palanga, a beautiful unspoilt resort town, is located in the vicinity. The main attractions are the long stretches of beaches but it also houses a unique Amber Museum.
