The ideal way to know about the natural treasures of the European country Macedonian is to visit the Macedonian Museum of Natural History.
This museum was opened in October 1926 by Dr. Stanko Karaman, a renowned biologist of Macedonia. The museum is located at the Boulevard Ilinden 86 in Skopje.
The museum aims towards studying the geological structure of the city and country and exhibiting them in an attractive manner. The museum is spread across an area of 1700 sq. m.
Nearly 4000 expositions have been arranged in the museum till now. The well- studied research material and documentations are supported by various specimens.
Visitors can see a variety of rocks, minerals and fossils found in that region. Some of the fossils date back to 8 to 10 million years. Besides this, visitors can see the specimens of plants, insects, invertebrates, fish, amphibians and reptiles in this museum.
The museum remains open daily from 9am-4pm except on Sunday.
