Specialities of the island include Stuffat Tal-Fenek (a rabbit dish), Timpana and Mqarun fil-forn (baked pasta with macaroni, meat and cheese), Aljotta (a fish soup) and Qargha Bhagli (a tasty fried, baked or soup-based minced beef dish). Among pastries, the Pastizzi, Kannoli and Imqaret varieties are very popular among Maltese.

Malta’s national drink is Kinnie, which is a fizzy drink made out of bitter oranges. Maltese wines and beers are also of very high quality.
