Saint Paul’s Bay is named after Saint Paul who is believed to have been shipwrecked here. The Church of the Bonfire and the Ghajn Razul, a fountain at the spot where the Saint struck water as per legend are associated with his landing.
Qawra and Bugibba are the most popular spots on the bay with the tourists. Qawra has a rocky coastline which serves as a pleasant spot for swimming and sunbathing. Bugibba has a few interesting sites like an ancient military battery and an old watchtower and the ruins of an old temple.
A unique structure in the area is the wall of apiaries built by the ancient Romans centuries ago; these have been restored to display how these apiaries were operated to extract honey. There are also several caves in this area which served different purposes from being homes to burial areas; they have been built to display the life of the inhabitants of this region.
