Tourism is one of Monaco’s main sources of income. The state has no income tax and low business taxes. The state retains monopolies in a number of sectors, including tobacco, the telephone network and the postal service.
Monaco is one of the most expensive countries. The average daily budget for a tourist is about 100 € to 300 €. An average meal will cost about 10 € to 30 €. Staying in one of the towns outside Monaco is a better option.
