Reviews Kotor
Kotor is located in the south-western part of the Republic of Montenegro. This town of approximately 13,500 inhabitants is built around an enormous bay along the Adriatic Sea. The population is densest close to the bay which is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.
Kotor enjoys a very extreme climate with the temperatures in summer consistently touching 30°C, while the average temperatures in winter are close to the freezing point. There is uniform precipitation from spring through to the beginning of winter.
Starting off as a Roman settlement, Kotor was fortified in the Middle Ages. However, this did not protect it from the many attacks and battles right up to the end of World War I. It passed many hands before it became a part of the Montenegro Republic less than 50 years ago.
