Tourist Guide Podgorica
Podgorica, located in the south-eastern part of Montenegro, is the capital city. This city of approximately 136,400 inhabitants is the administrative and cultural centre of the country.
Podgorica enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Summers are hot and dry with average temperatures at 25°C. Winters are mild and snow is almost a non-existent phenomenon.
Its location in fertile valleys, inundated by six rivers has made the region hospitable for human settlements since prehistoric times. The city is built on flat land surrounded by steep mountains and cliffs.
Podgorica was popular with merchants and traders owing to its strategic location. Since the city was rebuilt after massive destruction in World War II, it has the appearance of a well-planned modern European city.
