Visitors of Amsterdam’s De Looier Antique Market (Antiekmarkt De Looier) have the benefit of enjoying a flea market type of atmosphere in an enclosed building area. Situated between Looiersgracht and Elandsgracht in the Jordaan district, the establishment is one of the very few of its kind in the Netherlands.

Items that can be found at this market include antique furniture, paintings, old jewelry, silverware, toys, and much more. Upon entering the building, visitors will probably first notice the unusually narrow pathways between the seemingly endless tables of merchandise.

The market began roughly three decades ago as a band of antique dealers who couldn’t afford to buy their own shops. Today, De Looier Antique Market is one of the most well-known in Western Europe, and attracts a multitude of tourists every single week. On Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, private dealers can even rent tables in the market to sell and trade their goods.

There are 70 different antique stands, and a reception desk with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. The building also has a café and restaurant inside so customers can sit down and regroup after or during their visit. De Looier Antique Market is open from 11 am to 5 pm, every day of the week except Friday. Come prepared for a large crowd.
