Located in the scenic center of Amsterdam, the Spui Art Market (Art Plein Spui) is situated between Spuistraat and Rokin, right down the street from the Begijnhof and the city’s Historical Museum. This particular market is one of the best places in the Netherlands to get fantastic artwork at affordable prices. Every Sunday people flock to this union of tents to find work done by their favorite creators.
The Spui Art Market is open from 10 am to 6 pm, and features artwork by members of the Stitchting Amsterdam International Artists (SAIA). While there are 60 members, you will only see work from 25 of them on any given Sunday. This constant rotation of artists present at the market, along with the constant influx of new work makes the Spui Art Market worth visiting over and over again.
There is also a good spread creation types available at the Spui Art market. Depending on the artists that are present on the day you are there, you can peruse artwork such as oil and acrylic paintings, water colors, graphic arts, sculptures, ceramics, and jewelry. The Spui Art Market is also a great opportunity for visitors to buy art directly from the makers, and not have to deal with galleries or museums.
