Amsterdam offers a truly wide variety of entertainment, as far nightlife is concerned, and when the sun goes down you better get ready for a very busy time! There are lots of special performances, many cultural events, festivals, especially during sweet Summertime. For ages this city has been one of the leading centers of culture in Europe and it still lingers in this direction for sure!

For Live Music the city is a hot spot. Hit the Paradiso (near Leidseplain): a true Amsterdam landmark, it has two spaces for shows. The wider hall of the two has hosted big names such as Dave Matthews Band, the Black Crowes and more. Mainly it draws big names of the pop/rock scene but also hosts local bands and special club nights.

Definetely, hit the Melkweg; for Jam Bands Night, it hosts the Jam in Dam, a 3-day festival! To join the groovy crowds, it's the right place to be!

Jazz lovers should check out Bimhuis (pronounced bim house). Amsterdam has a strong jazz scene and this place has been hosting names such as Chet Baker or Charles Mingus since the 70's. It's up beat for improvisational music and contemporary jazz.

Many Summer Festivals held in August merge in the crowed Amsterdam. During this vibrant festivals which turn the city into a big stage, from parks to temporary outdoor theatres, you'll have the chance to see performances ranging from big bands to string quartets, hip hop, DJs' sessions, world music, funk. Day and Night Fun!
