The Het Loo Palace is nestled amidst the wooded area around the city. Having served as a royal residence in the past, it now houses art, sculpture, furniture, tapestry and other memorabilia collected by the royal families over the years.
Apenheul Primate Park is a unique zoo which is home to several species of monkeys and apes, most of which are allowed to roam around freely amongst visitors. Julianatoren, a recreational park housing amidst roller coasters and giant slides a century-old watchtower, is a popular attraction.
Caterplein is the main square of the city and is flanked by several restaurants and cafes; art cafes are also found in its vicinity. Veluwe, the wooded region around the city, is ideal for cycling or walking trips.
The city hosts an annual Jazz festival in its streets every June, which attracts visitors from all over Netherlands and the neighbouring countries.
