The village of Bergen is spread over the dunes. The Kranenburgh Museum displays the artwork of the local talent. The centre of the village is built around the Ruinekerk, literally the ruins of a church, and is flanked by cafes, restaurants and boutiques. Holland Music Sessions in which talents from around the world give concerts in the village is held in August; in October, the village hosts a 10-day art festival.
The village of Bergen Aan Zee is along the coast. The Zeeaquarium houses a wide range of marine wildlife; the village also boasts of a nudist beach. The Adelbertus Abbey with its candle-making factory run by the monks and the ruins of the Egmond Castle are found in the villages of Egmonds.
The villages of Schoorl and Groet are spread over high dunes and provide many opportunities for enthusiastic cyclists and walkers. The De Putten Bird Sanctuary is also located in the vicinity.
